The Centenary of Prof. B. Ramamurthi was celebrated with pomp and glory on 30-01-2022. To commemorate his 100th birthday the 21st Microneurosurgery Workshop – Hybrid workshop, Symphosium was conducted from 28th – 30th January 2022. The Main Theme was EPILEPSY AND FUNCTIONAL NEUROSURGERY. The visiting faculties were Prof. Malla Bhaskara Rao, Neurosurgeon(NIMHANS, Bangalore); Prof.Paresh Doshi, Neurosurgeon,(Director of Neurosurgery, Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai). Prof.Sarat Chandra, Neurosurgeon (HOD, AIIMS, Delhi), Prof.Manjari Tripathi, (Neurologist, AIIMS, Delhi) and Prof.Manjul Tripathi Neurosurgeon (PGIMER, Chandigarh) were the Moderators.
Live demonstration of epilepsy surgery was relayed from ALNC VHS, Chennai Operation theatre and from Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai to all over the world. Also in the Symposium on 30-1-2022 many eminent Neurosurgeons and Neurologist spoke on various aspects of epilepsy, Management, Treatment and presented video and interactive sessions.
The 2nd Monograph in the PGINS series “Meningioma” was released by Shri.N.Gopalaswami, IAS, Former Chief Election Commissioner and Current President of VHS. The 24th ALNC oration was delivered by Prof. Suresh Nair, Neurosurgeon Former Dean & Professor of Neurosurgery, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum, India.
Dr.Krishna Kumar G. Joined the department as Junior Consultant on 28-05-2021. He completed his MS (General Surgery) from PGIMER and MCh (Neurosurgery) from SGPGINS.
Dr. Aishvarya Shree N has Joined the department on 21-2-2022 as Neuroanaesthetist. She completed her DM(Neuroanaesthesia) from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum.
Our team in association with Dr.Mohan Kameswaran, ENT surgeon continued to perform Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI) surgeries for congenitally deaf children. 75 cases of such surgeries were done at ALNC. This surgery is done only at ALNC VHS, Chennai, in India.
